This project proposes to test an imaging technique to study the effects of behavioral and pharmacological manipulations on the endocannabinoid system, facilitating the study of brain-behavior relationships in non-rodent species. The research focuses on the role of CB1 receptor binding potential in pair bonding behaviors in non-human primates, specifically coppery titi monkeys, using PET imaging with the ligand [18F]FMPEP-d2. The study aims to understand receptor engagement in response to behavioral stimuli and pharmacological treatments, potentially opening new avenues for imaging research in non-human primates and other species. Insights gained could contribute to understanding the neurobiology of social bonds and substance use disorder.
