The Florida Department of Environmental Protection awarded Mighty Moe Marine a contract to conduct a shoreline survey at Cat Point to collect baseline data on shoreline and reef stability, vegetation health, and elevation changes, using 2D and 3D imagery to assess erosion protection materials. The contract includes data collection for up to 7 field days, data analysis, and delivery of maps and models for monitoring and comparison purposes. The award amount is $2,475, and the project aims to evaluate the success of living shoreline materials for erosion control.
Description
Conduct survey of Cat Point Living Shoreline pre-hurricane and during the season to collect baseline data that will provide a 2D modeling assessment and data on shoreline/reef stability, reef performance, vegetation health, and elevation changes during the season. Surveys will also be conducted following any named tropical events that may occur during the season. These surveys will be used as a pilot project to determine the ability of 2D and potentially 3D imagery in determining the success of the various materials used along the shoreline for erosion protection and will be presented to ANERR in a format that can be used to monitor changes, compare to historical surveys, and provide homeowners with more accurate scientific data on the performance of living shorelines for erosion protection. Deliverables include data collection/field survey costs for up to 7 field days; 2D analysis and stitching of data; and final products (maps/models) developed and delivered in a format that can be utilized by ANERR for baseline determinations and historical comparison.
