A community-based intervention to improve PrEP uptake and adherence among people who inject drugs in the US Northeast through trained navigators in syringe service programs, evaluated via a randomized controlled trial.

Description

This project aims to evaluate the efficacy of a community-based intervention called "PrEP for Health" designed to increase the uptake, adherence, and persistence of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among people who inject drugs (PWID) in the US Northeast. The intervention involves highly trained PrEP Navigators embedded within syringe service programs (SSPs) delivering theory-informed education, motivational interviewing, problem-solving, and ongoing navigation to improve HIV prevention outcomes.
