Description
This project aims to determine the ability of pulmonary vascular smooth muscle cells (pvSMC) to support chronic HIV infection and spread to immune cells, and to investigate mechanisms of pvSMC resiliency to HIV cytopathic effects. The research addresses the challenge of HIV reservoirs that sustain infection despite antiretroviral therapy, focusing on the pulmonary vasculature as a source of HIV reservoirs.
