Description
This project aims to understand the vitamin D pathway in preterm neonates and its role in podocyte health using a preterm mouse model. Dysregulation of vitamin D metabolism may cause local deficiency of active vitamin D, reducing Nphs1 expression, impairing podocyte differentiation, decreasing podocyte density, and leading to albuminuria. Therapeutic options include vitamin D supplementation or maternal vitamin D administration.
