Development of a soft microrobotic drug delivery system to prevent vascular complications in hemodialysis patients by locally delivering AZD8797 to inhibit vessel wall inflammation and improve vascular access patency.

Description

This project aims to develop an endoluminal AZD8797 delivery system using soft microrobots to locally inhibit CX3CR1-mediated vessel wall inflammation, prevent neointimal hyperplasia and venous stenosis, and improve venous access for hemodialysis. The approach is atraumatic, avoiding endothelial injury and subsequent inflammation. Specific aims include refining microrobotic technology, identifying the maximum non-toxic dose of AZD8797, and testing the hypothesis in a rat AVF model with chronic kidney disease.
