Award for a study to evaluate remotely-delivered cognitive behavioral stress management to improve health outcomes and prevent accelerated aging in older breast cancer survivors.
Description
This study focuses on using a remotely-delivered group-based cognitive behavioral stress management (R-CBSM) intervention to prevent physical and mental health decline in distressed, older breast cancer survivors (BCS). The model suggests that cancer and its treatments pose challenges for psychological adaptation and neuroimmune regulation, potentially accelerating aging (Cancer-Accelerated Aging, CAA). The intervention aims to improve modifiable processes affecting these factors to promote better long-term health outcomes.
