The award supports a pilot project under the Developmental Synaptopathies Consortium to advance research on neuropsychiatric manifestations in rare genetic disorders by funding pilot studies, mentoring investigators, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Description

Within the Developmental Synaptopathies Consortium (DSC), approaches and tools are being developed to leverage the large number of patients with neuropsychiatric manifestations in TSC, PHTS, and PMS, enabling cross-syndromic comparisons. The DSC has built a robust infrastructure for standardized neuropsychological assessments and has supported pilot projects, including clinical trials and biomarker studies. The current funding period aims to expand this success by utilizing the Pilot/Feasibility Core (PFC) to determine research priorities, mentor investigators, review proposals, oversee pilot projects, and monitor progress. The PFC will ensure compliance with regulations, obtain IRB approval, and disseminate results broadly.
