Description

Disruption of Innate Immunity Responses in Monocytes: Contribution to Neurodegeneration. Alzheimer's disease (AD) and HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) involve monocyte recruitment to the brain affecting neurodegeneration. The study aims to characterize IFN-1 signaling and insulin receptor biology in monocytes from AD and HAND patients, determine monocyte effects in brain organoid models, and assess IFN-1 receptor modulation effects on macrophage phenotype and neuronal dysfunction. The research seeks to uncover mechanisms in neurodegenerative disorders and identify therapeutic targets.
