A research project funded by NIAID to study protective memory T cells to accelerate tuberculosis vaccine development using advanced single-cell analysis techniques.
Description
This project seeks to define protective memory T cell function by applying cutting edge single-cell analyses to track and compare Mycobacterium tuberculosis-specific memory CD4 T cells among individuals that will later progress to active TB vs. those that have not developed TB despite heavy exposure. It aims to identify key features of protective memory T cells to improve TB vaccine development and risk stratification, involving advanced single-cell transcriptomics, TCR sequencing, and human immunology training.
