A research project funded by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders to identify early predictors of persistent speech sound disorder in children, aiming to improve diagnosis and treatment strategies.

Description

This project addresses a critical public health need by identifying profiles at age 4 years that predict persistence of speech sound disorder at age 7. Ultimately, the project will inform more accurate diagnosis of children who are most likely to present with persistent speech sound disorder and assist clinicians in identifying the most efficacious treatment strategies for individual children with speech sound disorder.
