The project investigates lipoprotein lipase in microglia as a therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease, aiming to enhance LPL activity to clear amyloid-beta and slow disease progression.

Description

This project aims to investigate the role of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) in microglia as a therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease (AD). The research will use microglial-specific knockdown mice and AD susceptible mice to evaluate whether pharmacological activation of LPL can halt AD progression. The study will also analyze LPL-dependent mechanisms controlling microglial metabolism and function, and assess whether enhancing LPL activity can restore lipid handling in APOE4 carriers.
