Research project funded by NIAID to study mechanisms of SIV integration and latency in host genomes to inform HIV cure strategies.

Description

This project aims to investigate provirus integration preferences, the host mechanisms regulating proviral integration, and the impact of integration on host transcriptional and epigenetic programs using samples from SIV-infected ART-suppressed rhesus macaques. The study will generate an atlas of SIV integration sites and use single-cell assays to characterize host gene expression, chromatin accessibility, cytokine levels, and metabolites, with the goal of advancing HIV cure research.
