Description

This project investigates the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced in the nucleus of macrophages in regulating inflammation and the transition to resolution phase, with implications for preventing Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The research hypothesizes that oxidative stress in the nucleus mimics nitric oxide (NO) effects, extending inflammation and increasing ARDS risk in vulnerable populations such as the elderly, smokers, and those with metabolic conditions.
