This award supports efforts to diversify and enrich the UCSD Human Milk Research Biorepository cohort by recruiting underrepresented participants, enhancing data accessibility, and fostering partnerships with minority-serving institutions to advance breast milk research.
Description
The project aims to increase the broader representation of participants in the UC San Diego Human Milk Research Biorepository environmental epidemiology cohort by partnering with regional and local lactation groups and academic and/or community partners in selected U.S. metropolitan settings to enhance enrollment of underrepresented women. It includes recruiting 300 new participants from three targeted metropolitan areas, testing monetary incentives to improve recruitment, improving data accessibility, and raising awareness of the biorepository as a research resource, especially among underrepresented populations and minority-serving institutions.
