NIH research grant awarded to University of Rhode Island to study bacterial cell division mechanisms, focusing on protein interactions and metabolic crosstalk relevant to antibiotic tolerance.
Description
This project addresses the underlying mechanisms and key strategies that bacteria use to regulate growth and proliferation via the highly conserved bacterial cell division pathway. The work aims to elucidate interactions among division proteins, mechanisms of crosstalk between division and central carbon metabolism, and the interplay of division proteins with the TCA cycle, which is critical for antibiotic tolerance in pathogenic E. coli.
