Description
The project aims to understand cortical mechanisms underlying loss, recovery, and disorders of consciousness. Using intracranial electroencephalography (iEEG), the study will identify signatures of unconsciousness and distinguish it from waking, drowsiness, and dreaming states. The research combines high-resolution iEEG with computational modeling, electrical stimulation, scalp EEG, and MRI to find reliable biomarkers for different consciousness states, with applications in anesthesia monitoring and diagnosis of sleep disorders, delirium, vegetative states, and coma.
