A research project funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute to study the effects of time-restricted eating on vascular function and insulin sensitivity in night shift workers, aiming to reduce cardiometabolic disease risk.

Description

This project aims to improve the cardiometabolic health of free-living shift workers by testing a circadian-based eating model (time-restricted eating; TRE) to reduce lipids in circulation and improve blood pressure, vascular function, insulin sensitivity, and glucose homeostasis. The study will conduct a randomized crossover trial in 50 non-rotating night shift workers with overweight or obesity, assessing the impact of TRE on various health markers to identify mechanisms to counter impairments caused by shift work.
