The award funds research to identify E3-ubiquitin ligases regulating NKCC2 ubiquitination under high salt conditions, to better understand hypertension mechanisms and develop targeted therapies.

Description

This project aims to discover new E3-ubiquitin ligases that interact and mediate NKCC2 ubiquitination in rodents fed high salt diet, advancing the knowledge on renal physiology and the development of hypertension, promoting the development of specific loop diuretics and leading to new strategies for the treatment of hypertension.
