Description
The project aims to evaluate the efficacy of an electronic health (eHealth) decision support tool (DST) to improve informed decision making among cancer patients regarding tumor genomic profiling (TGP). The study builds on previous randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of the Gene Pilot tool, with a revised version called Gene PilotLX. The project involves revising the tool based on formative work, conducting user testing, and then testing its impact in a fully powered RCT with 232 cancer patients across four oncology sites. Primary outcomes include decision preparedness, decisional conflict, and communication with healthcare providers. Secondary outcomes include communication with family and perceptions of TGP. The study also examines how cultural values moderate the effects of the intervention.
