The award funds research to identify novel kidney injury markers to improve treatment and prognosis in acute decompensated heart failure patients, addressing limitations of current kidney injury measures.

Description

This project aims to identify and validate novel kidney injury markers to improve prognosis and treatment strategies in patients with acute decompensated heart failure. Hospitalization for acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) is a significant public health issue with high risk of poor clinical outcomes. The kidneys play a central role in the management and prognosis of ADHF. Current measures of kidney injury are limited, and this project seeks to find better markers to guide therapy and improve outcomes.
