This NIH grant funds a project to analyze serum proteins to understand molecular mechanisms underlying multiple sclerosis progression, focusing on different disease stages and types of disability accumulation.
Description
The project aims to perform a proteome-wide analysis of serum samples from US and German cohorts using the OlinkĀ® Explore HT kit to measure up to 5400 proteins. The analysis will focus on CNS-driven markers to determine the magnitude of astrocyte response, severity and dynamics of oligodendrocyte and myelin injury, and the role of synaptic injury during pre-progression. The dataset will be further analyzed to define mechanisms of PIRA at different disease stages, differences from RAW, and markers characterizing each process.
