This award funds a study to develop and implement best practices for reporting pesticide exposure results to family child care home directors, aiming to reduce children's pesticide exposure through education, assessment, and policy recommendations in California.

Description

The goal of this study is to develop best practices for returning results to family child care home (FCCH) directors about pesticides present in their facilities. Best practices will be activities that maximize comprehension of key knowledge and catalyze action to reduce children’s exposure to pesticides, limiting harmful exposures during critical development stages. The study involves a mixed methods approach across four Central Valley counties in California, including stakeholder engagement, qualitative and quantitative assessments, pesticide reporting via DERBI, and policy development.
