The award funds a project to develop and validate mathematical and experimental models of epigenetic regulation in human cells, focusing on CRISPR-based regulators and stochastic gene expression modeling.
Description
This project proposes a theoretical, computational, and experimental framework to model epigenetic regulatory networks in single cells. It aims to assemble and stably integrate epigenetic regulators and complex circuits in human cells, develop methodologies for rapid assembly of CRISPR-based epigenetic regulators, study properties of epigenetic circuits in human cell lines, and create a theoretical framework to model stochastic gene expression kinetics. Validated models will be used to predict multistability, phase transitions, and oscillations.
