Description

This project investigates the role of spreading depolarization (SD) in the genetic epilepsy mouse model of Dravet syndrome. It aims to understand how SD affects physiology and behavior, and how it is regulated. The project will investigate the contribution of SD to epilepsy comorbidities and disease progression in Dravet syndrome using a well-established mouse model, examining correlations with cardiorespiratory instability, neurobehavioral deficits, and hippocampal SD during early-life hyperthermic seizures. Methods developed may apply to other epilepsy models and SD-related pathologies such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and migraine with aura.
