The award funds a study to develop a portable, non-invasive sleep monitoring tool for preterm infants in the NICU to better understand and support sleep cycle maturation during the third trimester.

Description

This prospective observational study aims to employ pragmatic integration of non-invasive and routinely acquired NICU monitoring to develop an objective and reliable tool to monitor third-trimester sleep maturation in preterm infants. A reliable bedside sleep monitoring tool will facilitate synchronization of sleep-promoting NICU care with each infant’s sleep states and will help characterize longitudinal sleep cycle maturation during the third trimester in preterm infants.
