The Beatty group's research program develops genetic tags called VIP tags for high-resolution imaging including electron microscopy. The project aims to expand VIP tags, develop new dimerization motifs for multi-color, multiscale microscopy, and validate these methods through studies of transferrin receptors.
Description
This research program is creating new genetic tags and workflows for studying receptor organization by fluorescence and electron microscopy (“multiscale microscopy”). This research is relevant to the mission of NIGMS to support the development of technologies designed to advance our understanding of how living systems function. Our innovative technologies are compatible with the microscopes found at most institutes or NIH-funded imaging centers.
