A project funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to develop and test a telehealth-based intervention for adolescent obesity treatment in pediatric primary care, focusing on improving BMI and health behaviors through a pragmatic clinical trial.

Description

This project aims to develop and test a novel intervention called Virtual Housecalls (VHC) to improve adolescent obesity treatment in pediatric primary care. The intervention combines in-person visits with virtual telehealth sessions, leveraging behavioral coaching and real-time skill building within the home environment. The study will conduct a pragmatic randomized clinical trial with 250 adolescents aged 12-15 years with class 1 obesity, assessing outcomes such as BMI change, dietary intake, and physical activity behaviors.
