Description
This research aims to shed new light on how special regions of DNA called centromeres function to guide proper chromosome separation during cell division. By using new tools to study centromeres in unprecedented detail, we will uncover basic principles of genome organization and maintenance that are essential for cellular health and reproduction. The knowledge and technologies produced by this work will advance our understanding of how cells faithfully pass on genetic information, while also providing valuable resources for studying challenging regions of the genome.
