Description
This study aims to investigate the early-life development of the oral environment and its role in food allergy onset. It leverages longitudinal data from the NIH/NIAID SunBEAm cohort of 2,500 children, focusing on oral immune development, microbial communities, and metabolites. The research includes characterizing allergen-specific antibodies, cytokine profiles, microbiome, and metabolome in saliva, and analyzing their interactions with systemic factors to identify predictors and causal relationships related to food allergy. Findings could inform prevention strategies and non-invasive biomarkers.
