Description

This project aims to investigate the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced in the nucleus of macrophages in regulating inflammation and the transition to resolution, with implications for preventing Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The study hypothesizes that oxidative stress in the nucleus mimics nitric oxide (NO) effects, extending inflammation and increasing ARDS risk, especially in vulnerable populations such as the elderly, smokers, and those with metabolic conditions.
