The award funds research to create new methods and software to resolve conflicting results from randomized trials in perinatal health, addressing methodological challenges and improving clinical decision-making.

Description

This project aims to develop novel causal inference and machine learning methods and user-friendly software to reconcile conflicting randomized controlled trial (RCT) results, focusing on perinatal health. It will develop methods to evaluate the impact of implementation differences, unmeasured drivers of heterogeneity, non-adherence, and unblinding on conflicting results, and apply these methods to the 17-alpha-hydroxyprogesterone caproate (17P) and spontaneous preterm birth (SPTB) trials.
