NIH awarded a grant to Yale University to study the role of CSPalpha in presynaptic autophagy and its impact on neurodegeneration, using knockout and disease models to understand synaptic vesicle turnover and autophagy mechanisms.

Description

This NIH grant project aims to elucidate how CSPalpha regulates synaptic autophagy and neurodegeneration using various experimental methods in wild type, CSPalpha knockout, and CLN4 models. The research focuses on characterizing synaptic vesicles, autophagy-targeted synaptic vesicles, and synaptic autophagosomes, investigating the relationship between synaptic vesicle cycle and autophagosome biogenesis, and understanding the mechanisms through which CSPalpha influences synaptic autophagy and neurodegeneration.
