Description

This project aims to use genetically modified mouse models to understand how the newborn heart dissolves its scar tissue after myocardial infarction, with potential applications for adult heart treatment. The research will generate a genetic mouse model to label the secretome of cardiac fibroblasts in vivo, profile factors elaborated by cardiac fibroblasts in uninjured adult hearts, apply this model to neonatal and adult hearts post-myocardial infarction, and compare secretory proteins between neonatal and adult hearts to understand fibrosis resolution mechanisms.
