Research grant awarded to University of Iowa to develop a high-throughput screening assay for broad-spectrum mold-active antifungals, focusing on novel mechanisms and in vivo testing.

Description

This project aims to develop and validate a high-throughput resazurin-based screening assay against Mucor circinelloides, to identify broad-spectrum antifungal candidates, assess their bioavailability, and optimize potent molecules for in vivo testing in murine models. The goal is to identify mold-active antifungals with novel mechanisms of action by screening directly with Mucor circinelloides, to meet urgent clinical needs.
