Description
Tick-borne Rickettsia species cause serious human disease in the United States and worldwide, including spotted fever and typhus, with no approved vaccines and an increasing incidence of infection. This project aims to decipher the molecular mechanisms by which Rickettsia factors allow evasion of innate and adaptive immunity to improve understanding of disease and design novel therapeutics and vaccines.
