Description
This project aims to assess whether hippocampal network dysfunction underlies both memory impairment and hallucinations in Parkinson's Disease (PD) and whether activity in specific hippocampal subregions predicts cognitive and functional decline over time. Using neuropsychological assessments and high-resolution functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), the study compares PD patients with episodic memory impairment, hallucinations, both, or neither, along with healthy controls. The findings are expected to clarify the role of hippocampal networks in PD-related cognitive and psychiatric symptoms and may identify targets for therapeutic intervention.
