Award for the DF/HCC Prostate SPORE project focusing on translational research in prostate cancer, involving multiple projects targeting tumor response, epigenome strategies, and biomarker discovery, funded by the National Cancer Institute.
Description
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and second leading cause of cancer death for men in the United States. New approaches are urgently needed to improve outcomes for men with prostate cancer. By bringing together basic and clinical investigators across the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) and fostering a research community focused on collaboration and innovation, the DF/HCC SPORE in Prostate Cancer will address the most important translational research questions and unmet needs in prostate cancer. The three projects take distinct approaches to address the identification and treatment of aggressive prostate cancer, mechanisms of resistance to existing and emerging therapies, and the development of biomarker-driven tailored treatment approaches for patients. These projects will combine biologic studies with patient data to provide new insights into prostate cancer initiation and progression and to develop novel clinical approaches for patients.
