Description

Hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) transplantation after conditioning is widely used in the clinic to treat pathological mutations in the lympho-hematopoietic system. The mechanisms of interaction between the bone marrow (BM) microenvironment (ME) and transplanted HSC remain a mystery. Understanding these mechanisms, especially how Cx43 regulates mitochondrial activity and transfer between HSCs and BM mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), could significantly improve HSCT protocols and reduce reliance on myeloablative conditioning.
