This award funds research to understand parental allelic expression dynamics at single-cell resolution using hybrid ascidians, aiming to elucidate allele-specific gene expression and regulation during embryonic development.
Description
The project aims to decode the dynamics and regulation of parental allelic expression at single-cell resolution, focusing on how allelic imbalance contributes to normal and abnormal developmental processes. Using hybrid ascidians, the research will characterize allele-specific gene expression during development at single-cell resolution, develop approaches to profile gene expression and chromatin accessibility simultaneously, and develop spatial transcriptomics techniques to understand regulation in the context of cell-cell contacts.
