This NIH grant supports the Radiobiology and Imaging Program at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on radiation interactions with cancer and normal tissues, including proton therapy and imaging advancements.

Description

The Radiobiology and Imaging Program (RBI) aims to advance understanding of how ionizing and non-ionizing radiation interact with cancer and normal tissues. The program addresses the cancer burden through collaboration with Community Outreach and Engagement. Scientific aims include developing agents to improve radiation cancer therapy, investigating immune environment modulation via radiobiological or imaging methods, understanding tumor microenvironment and metabolism, developing novel imaging techniques, and studying the biological effects of protons for clinical use.
