A research project funded to improve HIV treatment among people who inject drugs in Malaysia by implementing and evaluating integrated care models that combine HIV and opioid use disorder treatments.

Description

This project aims to evaluate strategies for improving HIV treatment among people who inject drugs in Malaysia, focusing on integrated care models and implementation science. The study will collect evidence for overcoming barriers to implementation of fully integrated and effective Seek-Test-Treat and Retain (STTR) care models for people living with HIV and opioid use disorder in Malaysia, providing a rigorous scientific test of the hypothesized comparative effectiveness advantage over current models of care, and informing healthcare policy guidelines in Malaysia and other countries.
