Research project funded by NIH to study the role of Fringe-mediated glycosylation in modulating Notch receptor activation and osteoclast function, aiming to develop new bone-preserving therapies.

Description

This project seeks to expand understanding of how decoration of Notch signaling receptors with sugars influences the formation and function of osteoclasts, bone-dissolving cells. Completion of this work will contribute to knowledge of Notch signaling regulatory mechanisms. In the longer term, better understanding of this phenomenon may lead to new therapies based on finer control of these cells to prevent bone loss.
