Description

The project proposes developing living partial heart transplants that can be banked after ice-free vitrification and rapidly warmed from cryogenic storage to prevent ice-induced tissue damage. The goal is to create a global network of tissue banks with HLA and blood group antigen typing for matching with patients. It aims to develop and clinically translate an innovative partial heart transplantation approach containing viable cells that can grow, including applying vitrification to human PHT grafts, modifying packaging for clinical rewarming without nanowarming, and evaluating transport conditions for vitrified PHTs.
