A longitudinal NIH-funded study investigating developmental outcomes in children with Fragile X Syndrome and changes in their mothers' mental health from early childhood to young adulthood.
Description
This project is a longitudinal study examining development in children with Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) from ages 2 to 26 years, focusing on changes in their mothers' mental health and executive function. The study aims to identify variables predicting young adult outcomes and maternal changes over time, utilizing up to 10 data points per dyad. It also investigates how early predictors (e.g., parenting behaviors, communication, biomarkers) and later predictors (e.g., transition planning, SES) influence various outcomes such as employment, communication, adaptive behavior, and quality of life.
