This NIH-funded project investigates Beta hydroxybutyrate as a treatment to mitigate Alzheimer's disease risk following mild traumatic brain injury by targeting mitochondrial function and neuroinflammation.

Description

A multi-year NIH research project focused on exploring the therapeutic potential of Beta hydroxybutyrate (BHB) to reduce the risk of neurodegenerative disease post-traumatic brain injury (TBI). The study tests BHB's effects on mitochondrial function and neuroinflammation in mouse models and defines its immunomodulatory properties via the HCA2 receptor.
