Description
The project hypothesizes that an imbalance in activity between wake-promoting (orexin) and sleep-promoting (GABA) neurons in the hypothalamus underlies insomnia during alcohol withdrawal. Using a mouse model of chronic ethanol intoxication, the study will employ deep-brain imaging and pharmacogenetics to measure and manipulate neuronal activity, aiming to restore sleep and reduce alcohol preference.
