Description
The project aims to elucidate the mechanisms by which neutrophil IRE1α signaling influences production of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mitoROS) and calcium mobilization to drive neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) release, lung injury, and pulmonary host defense against MRSA. The study will define molecular mechanisms underlying IRE1α-mediated mitoROS hyperactivation and excessive NET release, and investigate the role of neutrophil IRE1α signaling in lung injury and immunity using a mouse model of MRSA pneumonia.
