The Clinical Core award supports the Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center in clinically characterizing at-risk individuals, expanding cohorts for disease-modifying treatments, and facilitating biomarker collection and research collaborations to advance early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Description

The Clinical Core (CC) is a critical component of the Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (IADRC). Its major emphasis is to clinically characterize persons at risk for AD and ADRD, including those with preclinical and early clinical stages of disease. The CC aims to expand the cohort to include individuals eligible for and enrolled in disease-modifying treatments (DMTs), with the goal of advancing Precision Medicine by improving early diagnosis, treatment, and reducing adverse events. It continues to characterize and follow individuals from families with hereditary dementia. The CC supports various projects by facilitating the banking and storage of neuroimaging data, blood, DNA, RNA, plasma, serum, CSF, PBMCs, and postmortem brain samples for further research. Patients will be offered participation in national and international projects such as ADNI, DIAN, LOAD, LEADS, CLARiTI, and drug trials. The CC collaborates with education and outreach cores to provide training and support to researchers, trainees, affected participants, family members, and the community.
