This award funds a program at MIT to provide an integrated curriculum on entrepreneurship and innovation for biomedical product development focused on substance use disorders. It includes training, online courses, webinars, and a bootcamp to foster technological and commercial innovations in this field.

Description

Our academic program offers biomedical and neuroscience researchers working in the field of substance use disorders (SUDs) a first-of-its-kind, integrated curriculum on innovation, entrepreneurial problem solving, and biomedical product development. The program aims to promote technological and commercial innovations for SUDs prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The program will combine expertise of entrepreneurship, innovation, DA, and education scholars into a unified curriculum; recruit 4 cohorts of 15 U.S. scientists in SUD research for free training; implement tailored online and in-person educational activities; and create a Community of Peers for ongoing support and cross-pollination. Educational activities include a kickoff event, online courses on innovation and entrepreneurship, webinars, and a hands-on bootcamp facilitated by biomedical entrepreneurs and pharmacotherapy coaches.
